The olive Ridley is classified as Vulnerable according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN). Several projects worldwide seek to preserve the olive ridley sea turtle population. World Earth Day - Sand Art at Puri Sea Beach by Manas Kumar Sahoo

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 193 countries each year. Typical ways of observing Earth Day include planting trees, picking up roadside trash, conducting various programs for recycling and conservation. For this purpose the reputed international sand artist Mr. Manas Kumar Sahoo has created a beautiful sand sculpture on the eve of “World Earth Day” in the golden sea beach, near light house of Puri at the distance of 65 K.m from capital of Odisha, Bhubaneswar. On 1st April 1936, the state of Odisha was formed and to remember the contributions and sacrifices made by the people of Orissa in those old days, Utkal Divas or Odisha Day is celebrated all over the state. Not only in Orissa but Utkal Diwas is celebrated in many cities and towns in India and abroad, where people from Odisha reside. On the eve of Odisha Day, International reputed Sand artist Sri Manas Kumar Sahoo has created a sand sculpture on the golden sea beach, near light house of Puri at the distance of 65 KM from Bhubaneswar the capital of Odisha. The artist Mr. Sahoo has prepared sand art on Odisha art and culture about 15ft length. In this sculpture Mr. Sahoo has shown different temple and different faces those are celebrating Utkal Dibasa. By preparing this sculpture the artist also wants to give the message “Ame Odia re Ame Odia”.
